I've always been a skeptic about the so-called paranormal, and I've also always been fascinated by magical belief systems. For a long time, I think I assumed that reconciling the two would mean the former just wiping out the latter: throwing out those tarot cards I found so intriguing (but didn't know how to use) and being unable to cope with my friends' pagan wedding ceremonies. I didn't want to do that, so I made sure I never took my own flashes of mysticism seriously enough for it to matter.

Then I had a peculiar experience that I'm still not sure how to categorize, learned to read tarot, and started wondering whether, actually, what I thought of as a skeptic and what I thought of as a pagan-y magic-y person might be compatible after all.

But there's a lot for me to figure out personally, and a lot of garbage to sift through.
